Epic Games, like the scumbags they are, snuck in a back door into their app that would bypass Apple's in-app purchases because they didn't want to pay Apple the 30% fee for in-app purchases. Epic Games wanted that 30%. So in their app updates (Apple has to review and approve), they didn't even disclose they did this - hid it in their code, too, so Epic could sneak through the back door.
Apple caught them, inevitably, and then a legal battle ensued.
There are 2 problems:
- Apple charging 30% for any in-app purchases.
- Epic Games being slimeballs and trying to sneak code in the back door to avoid any and all Apple fees.
Both companies are being dicks, here.

Why is to dickery to avoid Apple's fees? All they want to do is sell their stuff on iPhone. Apple is the one that gatekeeps their user's phones.

The only improvement Apple added was multi-touch, arguably a good feature but not exactly a game-changer.
