beautiful game as is Riven but hard to play without guide books
I remember being incredibly frustrated with it, but I was pretty young when it came out.
I remember Riven came with like a notebook to write stuff down.
I beat Myst: Masterpiece Edition. Only had to use the hint system one time for that damn maze.
But Riven?
Stuck at the very beginning. Three times, I tried to get anywhere in that game. No Masterpiece Edition exists for it, and I can't live with just cheating. I'm just going to have to try the fuck again.
I didn't even understand the game without guide books. Didn't seem much point to play after reading the step by step guide with pictures of in game play .
Didn't help the computer was only a 200 mhz with a 4x cd drive. Goddaaaaam riven was so slow
agreed. Good times though; that 4x cdrom drive was blazing fast at the time! The 7th guest games were almost as hard- give me Maniac Mansion any day!
Sadly, when I had it, 16x was a thing and CDR burners were becoming a thing, lol.
7th guest was much harder, but it declared puzzles more clearly. 11th hour was.... not up my alley either, lol
