I actually had a Japanese friend that had the Japanese version of the console and many games so I got early access to some of them. The Jap version of the games were slightly different(and better imo) than the US version(names, sounds, game play in some cases). We also had to cut plastic off the US game cartridge in order for it to fit in the Jap console but they worked fine once you got it to fit in.
