I played it a bit when it came out, and it was hideous even back then. Played with the "remaster" mod a couple years ago, and it was still bad. Loved the premise and gameplay, but Deus Ex held the rare distinction of being too ugly to play.

Well aware. Was more into UT99 and Q3 at the time; they looked nice. Diablo II didn't look that bad.

UT99 and Q3 are quite primitive but colorful, DX was supposed to be realistically drab.
