How sad that this is one of the few things in which pandering to China works in our favor...

Think of what would happen if the New Cold War escalated to the point of China barring Western media, or the West for some reason restricting it in a sanctions package. Its a real possibility. Hollywood would go totally buckwild. Anyway, the medieval Star Wars comics were never cannon, but they somehow got licensed by Dark Horse Comics. Don't ask me if they're good, I think they are rather rare.
