I actually knew about this mod and forgot about it. I haven't tried and tested this mod, and my hunch is that it has some problem with it that people aren't drooling over it, but wow.... why are people even buying new games? The mods for some games are clearly better than brand new games that come out.

Mods are often much better than the base game or sequels. 2 that jump to mind: Dawn of War Ultimate Apocalypse mod is somewhat better than DoW2 and far better than DoW3, and the mods for Medieval Total War are better than many of the later Total War installments.

That mod does not appear to resemble anything to do with Path of Exile beyond its name, given that I don't see any skill/support gem system or the Wraeclast/Oriath setting, but aside from that it does look like a very nice job as a general renovation.

skill/support gem system or the Wraeclast/Oriath setting

i haven't play POE that much, and i'm not sure what exactly you're referring to but the gems affect skills already. what do you mean about support gems?

The descriptions i read gave a rundown of what the mod does.

Gems which affect skills would be the equivalent of POE's support gems, e.g. making a projectile skill bounce between enemies or making it shoot a volley of 3 projectiles, as opposed to a skill gem which grants the skill in the first place.

If they do have support gems (or equivalent with another name), even if the actual skills are still bound to the given Diablo 2 class, then that is a major feature which should be listed on their front page!

Ah i see. I'm assuming with something as neat as that they'd have it advertised front and center as well

modded gaming is a mere fraction of gaming, that's why.

I still haven't had a game I modded not break the save after some time.

any base game can be modded and tweaked into essentially a new game with dozens of hours of replay value

Should it remain stable. I gave it up because there is always that day that your save corrupts.

I remember people talking about this mod a while back. It's a nice idea if you are a hardcore d2 fan and want to try out something new, otherwise D2 is a bit too old for my taste. I played it a lot, but that was like 20 years ago, played it for about 5-6 years. D2 simply does not have the game engine for certain poe things to be properly imported, for certain game mechanics to function, plus there are layers upon layers of complexity that would require d2 to be completely remade from the ground up.

I'm glad that people wanted to combine poe and d2 and that d2 fans have something new to try out, but as far as I'm concerned, I'll stick with poe. If there would be, not a remaster because I don't want a wc3 reforged bs, but a proper remake like age2 definitive edition, then I would gladly come back. Otherwise Path Of Exile has been my hack&slash game for the last 6-7 years.

Yeah d3 looked like it was trying to be wow or something, which took away all it's originality and it didn't seem like diablo whatsoever

Also, besides that ps or xbox version, is there an offline version of poe? I don't like having to be online

D3 was......well, I bought it, played it for about a week or so and then sold it. I was disappointed in how the game turned out to be,and how different it was from D2. It's a different game, made for a different type of player.

As far as POE, nope, you can only play it online. There are no cracked servers or offline play options. That is a good thing but also a bad thing at the same time. The only other game in this genre that in my opinion is worth mentioning is Grim Dawn. It has online and offline options, it's made by the crew who worked on the old Titan Quest, it can offer quite a few hours of enjoyment and it's also on par with having a more dark atmosphere. There are also the sacred games, sacred 1-2, they still have a community and some mods, but those communities are much smaller than those from d2.

Sad that some of the best games are now so old
