I’m thinking of picking up a pre-built PC since this one even with a new SSD is still slow and parts are so hard to find right now or are being price gouged. I can get the same setup prebuilt for almost the same price as building it myself.

I can go with one company that only uses the Nvidia RTX 3080/3090

Or a different one that’s uses the AMD RX 6800 XT/6900

I’ve read both the 3090 and 6900 are more work station cards so I’m not going to spend the extra on those and the 6800 is at most 10% slower then the 6900 and in some tests the 6800 beats it.

I’m leaning towards the 6800, does anyone have real life experience with it instead of just review sites or experience with the 3080?

Thanks.

I've had nvidia cards on and off over the years, along with several ATI/AMD cards. I've had no issues with either, really. Currently using an NVidia 980Ti

now to think of it I did have the unlockable 6800, then the 7800 and 7900 something then the 8800gt crapped out constantly. Then it’s been amd cards since. I’ve never had problems with cards or drivers except for that 8800gt. IIRC the first batch had overheating issues due to thermal paste/cooler not fully attaching or something.

My first NVidia cards (SLI) after a long stretch of AMD cards were a couple of GTX 660s, then a 755, and then the 980Ti. I figure I'll go for a 3080 when the market stupidity clams down.

Yeah. I don’t understand it. Everyone is supposedly unemployed with no money and the shelves are bare and what’s left is marked up by third parties.

Is it supply issues from covid or people spent all their 600 a week on pc parts?
