This is what is going on with RadioShack:

It's legit. RadioShack pivoted to crypto currency and this dude is an edgy teen-twenty something trying to appeal their userbase.

Yup. A crypto scam bought the name, and now they are acting like a crypto scammer acts.

The writing was on the wall when they turned into cellphone stores.

Their heyday came with the brilliant gadgets and gizmos they used to sell, and passed by when they tried to become another Good Guys or Best Buy. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

To be fair, they were like Sears, from an earlier era. They sold things for do-it-yourselfers. The market changed.

Never understood why they didn't turn themselves into a microcenter type store.

[–] 1 pt

Isn't that what they used to do?

[–] 3 pts

Not really.

They had a lot of parts for radio and electronics hobbyists. Also they sold some of the first personal computers like the TRS-80 and Tandys.

RadioShack never transitioned well in the larger pc market like microcenter. They never sold motherboards or video cards. It was never a build your own PC shop.

They aren't big enough

You mean square footage? They could have rented larger retail spaces easily.

Fucking retards. "RadioShack" got bought by faggot YouTube scammer tai lopez. Now it's a corpse pushing crypto scams because apparently all you need to do to millenials to get their money is admonish them like their abusive mothers did

"Here I am in my G A R A G E!" Every single YT video from 2014-16

Radio shack would be awesome if it still actually catered to the electrical engineer / embedded engineer.

[–] 1 pt

used to be a wonderland for nerds

There has been this giant push against the diy community. They do not want the basement engineers who know how to fix their stuff. They want you to consume product and be excited for next product.

was going to mention this. Their stores shut down because planned obsolescence is built into everything we buy now. No money in components if you can't fix anything with them.

Really they don’t want engineers at all unless you’re working for their empire company themselves. Even then they only want you to be able to do what they tell you.
