Basically true. But an air fryer has more airflow and direct heat than a conventional convection oven. I have an InstaPot Duo which has an additional air fryer lid. It works pretty well actually. You get nice and crispy tendies in half the time. It's also a space saver if you have a small kitchen like I do. Fitting an actual oven in it is impossible. It's more of a kitchenette that I've crammed a fridge, induction range, microwave, and toaster oven in. InstaPot comes out when needed, sits on the range.
