I would urge Gavin to look at red state Louisiana as an example to find that elusive single explanation. Its three largest cities, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport are in the top 10 murder list by city. All three have majority black populations. All three have black democrat mayors. Those three cities make up around 17% of the State's population.
