I actually get this. It's a workaround due to an Apple engineering defect. The problem is the audience and marketing.

Knowing the Apple consumer, I'd market it as a workaround and feature with a warning:

Selecting this ring tone will cause you to miss calls.

I came up with my own ring tone that is a 500 millisecond burst at 2Khz with 20 seconds of silence. I like it because the tone burst is enough to let me know a call is coming in, yet won't annoy anyone near me. The 20 seconds of silence is long enough for the call to terminate.

That's a good idea. Just a pip and you're done.

Buying ifone in 2022.

Did your mom drink while pregnant?

I don't know where you got the idea I own any Apple products. I do not. I just thought having a ring tone like that was a good idea.

Isn't that the same basic thing as a notification chime? Although I don't know if you can use default chimes for ringtones since I've never cared to try.

Yes. The problem using a notification chime is the file is very short. Using it as a ring tone would play that notification audio over and over. That would negate the solution. By recording a burst and 20 seconds of silence ensures you only hear the burst one time.
