They usually aren't legal. If the car came with halogen bulbs, it is illegal to replace them with LEDs unless you change the entire assembly to an LED assembly. The headlights are approved as an entire device, including the factory-spec bulbs.

All new cars headlights are too fucking bright. It's fucking stupid and ridiculous and dangeorus

[–] 5 pts

Absolutely. If you need ultra bright headlights to see that badly you need to either 1) slow the fuck down or 2) not drive.

Yup, they might as well be driving with high beams on.

My favorite are the Chinese junk retrofit kits. These fuckers are driving around with their headlights blinking at 60 Hz. I can't even imagine what it's like to drive like that. Your car travels 2 or 3 feet in between pulses, so the strobe effect must be quite strong.

Ability to sense things correlates with intelligence. Dumb people probably don't see the flicker, they just see it as a slightly dimmer but continuous light.

Back when CRT monitors were normal I would walk around and change people's resolution to something reasonable, instead of the Windows default of 60 Hz. They had no idea that anything was wrong, and only half of them noticed an improvement.

That was my pet peeve back then. It had to be at least 72 Hz, which was far better than 60. It's the same people who argue with me that the DVD or streaming movie looks just as good as the Blu-ray. Uh, no.

Yeah, I increased the screen flicker rate on a guy's monitor from 60 Hz and his headaches immediately stopped. He was so grateful.

This explains why CRTS drove me crazy. And I don't consider myself particularly intelligent.
