It takes a few seconds to bleed out even if you get a perfect cut. I would think the roo would have definitely come after him with claws if he had used the knife. Even a dumb animal -- and roos are pretty damn dumb -- understand escalation of violence. They are scary sumbitches. All credit to that guy for even standing toe-to-toe with one.
