I have 40 acres and lived off grid there for a year, everyone complained about the coyotes yet I never heard a peep or saw a single one. Plenty of tracks miles away... hundreds of tracks actually.

After a couple months I was tracking the Elk herds and kept noticing they avoided my land and eventually noticed obscure tracks here and there. My friend came to visit and I showed him the tracks and he said, "they're just a little black bear".

I asked him if he knew of a black bear with retractable claws or one who leaped through the snow in 9 foot bounds... he quickly came to my conclusion exclaiming, "holly shit that's a huge cat!"

I basically cohabitated with a 200lb mountain lion for almost a year and never saw him (or her) once. The kitty left me and my two Rottweilers alone and we left the kitty alone. Most rural living of my life and I never heard the coyotes howling... ever.

Edit: but yeah, my family and friends in Montana have a SSS policy... shoot, shovel and shut up. Wolves are awful there and coyotes ain't much better. It's so retarded how activists want to reintroduce these animals into my mountains. I've seen dozens of deer with their throat ripped out and no meat consumed come spring thaw because of a Siberian wolf not indigenous to North America, reintroduced and teaching their pups to kill.

Seriously, shoot, shovel and shut up. There's a reason our ancestors eradicated certain species. I will happily cull herds with a rifle instead of watching thousands of pounds of meat rot as I have. Coyotes and Wolves need disposed of immediately, stupid democrats in Colorado have decided to reintroduce wolves to Colorado, I can't wait to watch this disaster unfold.

I killed a coyote with a .308 because its what i had in my hand at the time. Shot him in the neck. The exit wound was spectacular.

Lived on ranches for years and shot a lot of coyotes with injured animal calls. But in suburban environments it's harder to shoot them without getting attention. So I learned to do the same thing with a call, but just load up a bunch of meat with Aleve and after a few weeks of that they'll all be dead.

A bonus for that is getting the dogs that run around the neighborhood as well.
