Not sure if anyone on this site hates tattoos more than I do; can't fucking stand 'em.
However, those ancient tattoos are different; they would symbolize status, position, feats, and cultural beliefs. I'm of the opinion that if one must have a modern tattoo, it should only be for military unit camaraderie or maybe as forced brandings for criminals.
Most people today tattoo themselves out of sheer narcissism, which ironically symbolizes the opposite: Cultural decay.
