the red star is not a satanic pentagram but it is supposed to represent the evil of the solar federation that controls all of life in 2112. at the very end of 2112 right after the man kills himself in despair / depression, the elder race comes back and takes control/annihilates the priests and temples of syrinx which were the power centers for the solar federation.

the red star itself is not "rush's" red star though.
