Was it real bullets or the fact that blanks are still dangerous and you still shouldn't fire them at people? Blanks are safe to fire into the air.
Part of me was thinking if the director practically committed suicide on accident. Clearly they were filming at the moment and they wanted a shot toward the camera to capture the image of the smoke. So the director may have been dumb enough to say, fire it mostly toward the camera basically right at me. And Alec said, OK. I guess the director really got his camera lady killed.
They really need a gun expert (anyone who knows even a little about guns) on site to say no, that's retarded. If you want a shot of a gun firing toward the camera (even a blank) you don't leave the camera manned and everything behind the firing line is vacant. It would have taken all of two minutes to run the camera and then have everyone leave, have Alec do the cut, and then edit it shorter in post. Lazy morons.
