Crypto is only gold to fools.

It has the main disadvantage of 'traditional' fiat currencies - it has no intrinsic value. It is only worth what the market thinks it is worth. Unlike traditional currencies, crypto is not (currently) controlled by governments. Or worse, private institutions with zero accountability masquerading as government.

If you diversify your portfolio by holding foreign currencies, then holding crypto is a logical next step. Thinking crypto is the digital equivalent of precious metals means you're a fool.

Gold, like many other metal are limited in quantity, thus they can be given a value, besides, gold is used for other things besides currency, like electronic components, how is it different from crypto? Simple, you can't create gold out of thin air.

And yes, you can actually eat gold, but it has no nutritional value and there are better uses for it. Now let me ask, do you eat tractors and generators too, how tasty are those horse calves?
