Experienced teachers for $11-$14 / hour? My daughter is a teenager and became a lifeguard with the starting pay of $18 / hour.

[–] [deleted] 10 pts

A teacher that accepts $14 an hour is not a teacher that you want.

[–] 1 pt

the best teachers would do it for free, but I know what you mean.

public schools in america are shitholes.

Yea they usually end up fuckin their students

[–] 2 pts

A prostitute that accepts $14 an hours is not a prostitute that you want.

[–] 5 pts

I know it is unpopular here, but we really do have a wage problem.

[–] 26 pts

We have a huge inflation problem. It is presenting as a wage and labor problem because the fed is retardedly manipulating us.

[–] 13 pts

So. Much. This.

I had a meme that said something like "In 1970, minimum wage was $1.25/hr, paid in Silver quarters. Today the melt value of those 5 quarters is around $20. The wage isn't the problem, the money is."

The Jew's beast from Jekyll Island eating our wealth as designed.

Don't forget all the payroll taxes businesses pay to employ someone, and then the employee pays income taxes on what's left of what the business can pay them after paying taxes. Then you go buy something and pay taxes on buying it. Then when you die your kids pay taxes on getting the money you paid taxes on all your life.

[–] 6 pts

Exactly right. We’re being robbed blind by the international Zionist banking cartel.

[–] 3 pts

better import some more 3rd world

[–] 0 pt

We do not. Every time the wage goes up everything gets worse, it happens time and time again. The sheep keep arguing it would have happened ANYWAY while ignoring how low the cost of living is in places that did not force a 15 dollar minimum wage

[–] 0 pt

"Everything gets worse"

What got worse during the last wage spike in the early 90's?

[–] 0 pt

What was the point of the min wage in the first place, why was it created.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

Yup! LOL. WTF is that? $14 an hour for a teacher?

[–] 2 pts

It’s probably in the Midwest. The $18/hour your teenager is making would be a high salary here.

[–] 1 pt

Yes but you get summers paid off, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Spring Break, Holidays, health insurance, sick days, and then when you work so many years you get a paid pension for the rest of your life. Try finding that in any private sector job.

[–] 0 pt

Run the numbers and tell me what a $14 / hour pension comes out to after 40 years of working. I'll save you some time: fuck all.

[–] 0 pt

The Walmart here will start you at $13. Lol.

[–] 0 pt

The McDonalds where I live are hiring at $20 per hour.

[–] 0 pt

No need to spend anytime or more on school after grade 12, and just mindlessly stocking shelves for the same wage as a teacher. Wherever this teaching position is, they're getting fucked over.

[–] [deleted] 8 pts

Would that be ok with you? Why aren't you applying?

You know it, they make unreasonable demands for the job then cry they can't hire anyone. Naturally they demand Daddy Gov't do something instead of getting their shit together and offering jobs people want at pay they are willing to do the job for. Too many decades of getting away with shitting on people for law wages has spoiled them all.

[–] 6 pts

You know what I fucking hate is when an employer says -

"Must be able to multitask!"

Which basically means must be unable to focus on anything for longer than 30 seconds without getting interrupted needlessly because they're too fucking cheap to hire enough people for a job that requires several people. So they expect you to run around stressed out 8 hours a day and somehow they can't understand why there is such a high turnover rate.

[–] 2 pts

somehow they can't understand why there is such a high turnover rate.

They know.

I've worked a few lo-rent jobs like this over the years. They were great when I was a teen, you still got to see everyone in town if you worked the local gas station, but now? Even with the increased wages, it's not viable to try and keep a household going on what they're offering.

I looked at a few last summer as my regular unemployment was ending. It just wasn't worth the drive and gasoline I'd be spending to go there.

[–] 4 pts

That was kind of always the point. Those are entry level jobs for teenagers. No one should expect to raise a family working somewhere like that unless they are management.

[–] 0 pt

Even then they demand too much for too little pay.

[–] 6 pts

When I got out of the service in '86 I thought what the hell. I'll work part time at the Winn Dixie a mile from my house until I figure out what I want to do.

I filled out the app and spoke to the manager. No online bullshit and they would hire you on the spot. The guy liked me. Short hair, veteran, and hired me after talking to me for 15 minutes.

As we were walking to the door he says " Oh, one thing, would you mind shaving off your moustache?". He had my application in his hand. I asked him "May I see that?". He hands it to me and I turned and walked out without a word.

My reasoning being that if he would ask a 25 year old man to shave his moustache there must be a whole lot of chickenshit things going on there that I wanted no part of. Fucking asshole.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

Standard practice when working around food. Nobody wants to eat your mustache. Not a power trip.

[–] 2 pts

Yes. He was power tripping there.

[–] 4 pts

I had just finished 7 years of being fucked with by pros. Military Officers didnt treat me with disrespect. Im gonna let some chump in a supermarket do it? Spent time as Shore Patrol in Alaska and busted smugglers on the west coast. He was power trippin the wrong sailor.

"How many hours is full time with benefits again? Ok you get one less than that. If you work that many or more, you're fired."

The next day

"What do you mean you just left the kitchen uncleaned at the end of your shift? I'm cutting your hours. Do it again and you're fired!

It's so weird we can't find and keep employees..."

Media/Government (same thing really) all last year: OMG STAY HOME!! YOU'RE GOING TO DIE, THERE IS A DEADLY PANDEMIC! LOCK EVERYTHING DOWN, EVEN IF YOU FEEL FINE YOU MAY BE A CARRIER!! ALL SMALL BUSINESSES MUST CLOSE! ONLY [arbitrary number] OF PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED IN ANY BUILDING AT A TIME, OR YOU MIGHT FUCKING DIIIIIIEEEE!! Oh, you lost your job? Well, we're giving out an extra $600 for unemployment during these trying times, meaning most of you will be making more money doing NOTHING than you have ever made in any job in your life. BUT OMG THE DEATH TOLL IS GOING UP, LOCK EVERYTHING DOWN, GET TESTED, OMG PANDEMIC, PANIC!!!

Media/Government this year: "Why don't you want to go back to work?"

[–] 1 pt

Yes. That has been pointed out by a few small businessmen. They (the fed) can't figure out why everyone is staying home.

It's going to be interesting as the unemployment money ends. I'm guessing it's not going to alleviate the shortages as much as hoped.

[–] 5 pts

There's also a major issue with companies using temp agencies. They expect people to make 6 month commitments, without any benefits such as health insurance, just for the chance to be "officially hired" by the company.

How about "Fuck you, I'm ready to dedicate my life to a company- how about you show the same degree of commitment to me? And pay me what you list in your job posting."

I've actually had a temp recruiter tell me "Oh this company tracks hours very closely, if they don't hire you after the 500 hours, they have to pay way more." I replied "Do they pay me more, or do they pay you more? Does that get me health insurance?"

If employers are so desperate, they need to open up their fucking wallets, bite the bullet and start showing some respect to their employees. Because right now, it's a worker's market. That's one... somewhat "good" thing that the covid hoax did. Pre-hoax, employees needed their employers more than their employers needed them. Well, the tables have turned, now- the government is willing to pay us obscene amounts of money to not work. So employers need to match that in some way. We know they won't- instead, they'll use their lobbyist groups to apply pressure to state governments and force people back to work for less money.

Truly a wild fucking spiral we're in.

[–] 1 pt

That seems to be what most companies want these days. Why have an HR department when you can just have some contract company put a butt in a seat for you? All of my positions have been contract to hire save one, and even they had a 6 month waiting period after hiring (AT&T.) Some of the companies around here, that's all they have. That foreign nameplate car that was built in the USA? Yeah, probably 70% contractors put that together, maintained the lines, did facilities work, etc. We even have a few local places that hire contractors, fire them after 11 months, and do it again. Always looking for people because they've burnt out everyone.

Not sure if you remember, but right before the plandemic, there were stories starting to crop up about how employers were getting ghosted by potential employees, or in some cases by people they'd hired. They were whining about it, how could they do that to us? It was constantly pointed out that they'd been doing this to us (employees) for decades, and turnabout was fair play. I don't even see that now, they just don't get anyone applying and can't figure out why.

Benefits cancelled in some states, no change. What do?

[–] 3 pts

It's like... you accidentally startled your new cat and it ran up a tree. And now you (the employer) are trying to coax the mortally terrified cat (unemployed people who believe in the covid hoax) down out of the tree, using gradually drastic measures.

Yeah, most states people are losing the extra $300/600 this month already. Doesn't matter- they spent the last year making enough money that more people actually have money in the bank than ever. Smart and scummy people took full advantage of this- got on unemployment for $400/week right when the bonus $600 was announced, and suddenly you're making $1k/week for clicking through a few buttons. Then the bonus was halved- they were still getting $700/week.

Now with the "emergency stimulus" benefits totally gone, they're back down to $400/week. And this can go on pretty much indefinitely- lots of people abuse the hell out of unemployment by taking some shit job that pays pretty well, working just enough hours to qualify for unemployment, then get terminated or quit somehow. Then go back to living the high life. All while we're getting up at the crack of dawn to go generate the money these assholes are getting for free.

[–] 2 pts

This is exactly how 'communism' is born.

[–] 0 pt

I know of no one except the highest earners getting 400/wk. Here unemp is capped at 40% of what you made. People are finding other ways to make money, without being exploited.

[–] 2 pts

A lot of businesses putting out applications are just stockpiling them for when they need someone two or four months down the road.

[–] 2 pts

fill out your availability on the application.

Ok...

Alright you're hired. I see on here you can't work Wednesdays but we have you down for Wed, Thurs, Sunday. 8 hours a day.

[–] 2 pts

8 hours a day. 6A-9A, 11A-1P, and 9P-12A. Is that ok?

[–] 1 pt

You may also be called in to pull a double, one hour after you went to bed and weren't scheduled for that day.

When its the manager, or assistant managers job to fill unexpected vacancies with less than 24 hours notice.

"You have to come into work or you are gone."

"A gang of three people threatened to shoot my in the face next time they saw me, because I always break up their theft rings. And I already got someone to fill in."

"they call out. You have to come in."

Doesn't come in. Store gets robbed that day. Other clerk gets chased into the back room, and locks the door. Attackers, with gun, say fuck it and leave.

True story. That guy who called out was my neighbor.

One is paying $16 an hour though, which isn't bad for a beginner.

[–] 1 pt

Sure, just so long as you wear a mask. Fuck that.

[–] 1 pt

That's generous. Most places will barely give you 8 hours per week and still demand you have 24/7 availability and an expectation you accept any crumbs they give you. Failure to comply results in working 4 hours every other week.

[–] 1 pt

I am just going to assume they cherry picked the pictures, and the best they could come up with was: gas station attendant, burger flipper, a job you have to pay to be eligible for, and one you need a bachelor's degree to do. All of which pay under $16 an hour. Gee, why aren't people who had actual careers at one point just flooding these places with applications. Fucking lazy pricks.

Remember when the housing crisis hit and nobody could understand why these people that just spent $40,000-$70,000 on a degree didn't want to work for $9 an hour? Weird.

Not to mention we're still in the middle of the deadliest health crisis in the past 100 years. Who, in good conscience, could ask people to risk the lives of themselves and their families for something as measly as a paycheck? No wonder we need communism so bad.
