Tanks are amphibious and sink hole proof too right?
I dunno about you but I certainly don't have the magic powers to create a sinkhole under a mobile tank likely surrounded by soldiers while under fire from them.
Maybe I'm completely off base here but do you think they would have the manpower to patrol the streets and the sewer systems? Manholes are everywhere. How about driving their tanks out of range of exploding natural gas lines? Plenty of them everywhere also.

Sewers generally aren't big enough to use as a tunnel network. You could probably hide explosives in them if you knew a tank was passing along a certain street but it'd be easier to put them in a car.

You may not be able to engineer a sinhole beneath a tank, but you can always lure a tank to the future location of an asphalt sinkhole.
