I don't think so. Take for example art. Art styles in painting, sculpting, architecture... change during centuries, but thing go downfall when 'merchants" take stuff in his hand. Suddenly toilet seat become 'object of art'. Same is with movies, music... when 'merchants' take his pawn on entrainment industry you get all kind of abominations. Music are literally dead these days, black or white, no matter. All what remain are rap, hip-hop, and pale copy of old white music.
