Bam's life has just been the longest running Jackass skit titled 'Camp Kill Yourself' - which is actually what CKY stands for - It's been propped up by MTV who held a contest back in the mid-90s to pick one dysfunctional family similar to The Simpsons - and gave Bam a bunch of old film equipment - cameras and editing systems which were outdated and MTV had to rid of to make room for their new equipment. Bam (who's real name is Brandon) started producing his own skits during the taping of "The Real World - Dis Fun Actual Family" and wanted to include Bam's skits with his friends as a side "bumper" skits for in between scenes. The family of one of the kids involved in a Bam skit ended up suing MTV and the production company which ended up going bankrupt. The Margera's still retained ownership of the recorded material that the production company dropped by MTV had to release to the courts and the families involved - and the Margera's self released some of the best filmed material to a compilation known as CKY - Camp Kill Yourself - which was distributed exclusively in locally owned skate, record and video stores mainly in the New England region. It eventually became an underground classic and copied/traded in the "shock VHS" scenes which included classics like Faces Of Death & Mr. Hands style action. CKY eventually found its way back to MTV in the hands of Spike Jonez & Jeff Tremaine as they were in the pre-production for the Jackass pilot episode. The rest is history. And possibly made up.
