As Jackass skyrocketed to popularity almost overnight, Phil and Don Vito Margera proposed to MTV that Bam should get his own spinoff show due to the mainstream success of CKY and the executives agreed and greenlit "Viva La Bam" in late 2001, with production started the next spring. During this time, Steve-O was achieving success as a drugged out shock stuntman, and Bam said, "You know what, I can do that more hardcore AND longer than Steve-O, because he's gonna die in like 5 years, haha" and so Bam started his 2 decade long downward spiral that actual fits the title, Camp Kill Yourself. He's never left that stupid 16 year old dumbass phase like he's been at spazz camp for 20+ fucking years.
