Maybe his only goal in life is to make thing as uncomfortable as he possibly can for everyone, or it is innate to his personality, and his films are a reflection to that. What is the worst thing you could put on a screen? What is the worst way you could answer a question? The guy's only mode of talent is anti-quality.
Then morons call his work artful and real.
You can scratch the "Maybe", because you're spot on!
Lars is highly intelligent, likely a psychopath and is evidently mentally challenged.
As a movie director he explores (and crosses) grey zone-boundaries and limitations of both actors, the scripts and in the end the moviegoers..
He's without question a legend among filmdirectors, for the concept of "dogma", his intellectual-eccentric antics in public (duh!) and also his "innovative approaches" to making movies.
Personally i find him and his work only marginally interresting and would be hard pressed to recommend one (any) of his movies.
