There wasn't really an "inventor" of the air conditioner. Not that we're aware of anyways. There were technically air conditioners before electricity, but they had to be pumped by hand and the coolant they used was highly dangerous/toxic and prone to leaks, around the same time they figured out refrigeration. Only the wealthy could afford it and it killed a lot of people anyways. Maybe he invented the first electrical A/C but the technology is a hell of a lot older than you might think.

Another interesting fact, before we had electric liquid cooling there was no way to produce ice, so people would literally make trips to the north collect ice and then bring it back or transport it around the world. It was an actual trade/industry with entire shipping vessels full of nothing but ice.
