Hotel clerk is the dead-end job of dead-end jobs. You don't learn marketable skills doing it, you don't get paid well, no physical activity, It's just brain-draining. If you're autistic, you have a good chance of landing the job because they will take anyone who can stay up all night for a 10 hour shift. It degrades your interpersonal skills because 90% of all interactions are people who are trying to scam you out of a room, or got about $200 stolen from them because your bosses are in India and don't give a shit. That shit is torture for a guy like him. If all that money goes to getting mental help and he ends up with a shit factory job, it would still be better.
