Ive had standing rows with people about who goes first. "Give way to the right."
That's only true at an intersection with stop signs in both directions where two vehicles stop at the same time. Otherwise, the car that comes to stop first goes first. When making a right turn from an uncontrolled intersection, stop sign, yield sign, or red traffic light in the US you always yield to traffic coming from your left.
in australia, you give way to the right unless its some kind of rinkadink speshul feminist designed intersection thats probably signposted.
the general rule is give way to the right,
its kind of like the 'keep left unless overtaking' LAW (not polite request) that people think is a polite request/special circumstance/non existant. it is what it is. 'but what abou-' no, if you are doing the speed limit, in any right hand lane, and you are not moving in front of the car next to you, you are not overtaking, and have no reason to be in that lane, UNLESS DIRECTLY INDICATED TO by something specific to wherever you are.
tl;dr Give way to the right 'But what ab-' use your logic, give way to the right.
