Yeah I haven't been involved in Poal drama at all, but that seems pretty petty. I read the explanation in comment replies. I have no idea about the actual complaint, but I don't think it justifies domain blocking on a site where users contribute the content.

It's because amren were copying articles from other sites and reposting them on theirs. AOU felt that this was essentially copyright theft since they were benefitting from ad revenue on those articles without adding any additional content. So he blocked amren under spam rules.
It was quite an unpopular decision.
Ok, that’s at least a respectable reason.
I disagree since I consider amren a good consolidator and as long as they source the article, it can drive people to the smaller creator and a lot of those small places have a habit of disappearing.
But I can see his point too.
