ran into that issue myself, spent a couple hundred hours learning another language for my wife. Which really messed me up as it turned out most words, phrases and structures were completely wrong. This was Pimsleur which is supposed to be trusted was also in groups that used it and no one around to correct it.

Wife thought i was being lazy and rude until i had her actually listen to the lessons. I can speak the lessons and phrases i learned but with having an accident and head injury it's ruined any retraining. Can't focus on that or other things anymore.

Pimsleur is something that can be mediocre at best or absolute garbage at worst. I heard that one of the languages they offer, the course itself is mostly aimed at middle aged men trying to pick up women.

DM me what language you're learning, I can probably give you a bunch of resources for the language if it's not a super rare one, if you want. You won't have to necessarily use them now, but it'd be handy to have them at least for later on. Your wife would be able to independently verify them.

That one might be Japanese. I was listening and it starts of with the normal shit, parks, water, where's the bathroom etc. Then it gets into beer, sake, bar, hotel, your place or my place, and suddenly I realized it. Made me laugh.

The trick to learning of course is to not just use one source. And to learn through several methods such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

I think it was Japanese but not 100% sure

Your trick is the best way to learn. Also, when you know the basics, ban yourself from using your native language so that your brain is forced into thinking in the other one.
