There was a incident back in high school like this. I went with buddies to a public park after school to chill. On the floor of the back seat (with a locked door) was a grocery bag containing a case of beer and a 1/4oz primo. [age slip] We were all idiots but not hoodlums, but this was the 80's and those were considered pretty much felonies back then. My buddy had serious holy roller parents and his entire family was pretty much fucked up one way or another. We were about to unload and go down to the river when an officer pulls up and starts grilling us. My acid buzz from earlier had pretty much worn off so was in a mostly sober state for the questioning. We were polite and gave names etc, I normally had great respect for cops and a family member worked in city hall in the legal department sometimes on the Police Union's side. He probably recognized my last name. He started opening my buddy's car doors and looking inside. He got to the fourth door which had the goodies but with the locked handle I could see his mind was stuck like a bull just bounced off a brick wall. He started reaching inside for the lock. He was bent on searching the entire car and probably the trunk. We needed a distraction quick. I started being a bit of a smart ass. "We are here trying to have a good time. Do you have any probable cause for this search? I'm just asking." Obviously there's wasn't and he knew it. Nothing was visible and we all had our game faces. He got pissed for a second and drove off. It probably would have been a warning and he'd be drinking our brew that night but why risk it.
