Or maybe it's just **OBLIVION.** That's a scary concept, and probably most likely. Like being asleep but incapable of waking or dreaming as your body is returned to "dust". I think people cling to this notion of never-ending life because *dying is scary* and we don't want it to happen to us or our loved ones; but when it inevitably does happen, it *feels* a lot better to pretend that they have transcended to some paradise realm, bereft of suffering and misery. But that's *feeling,* not *thinking.* You want to believe that when you die, you'll "respawn", just like in video games- the alternative is terrifying. "That's it, it's over for me, I'm gone forever, and in 100 years nobody will even know I existed beyond a bit of paperwork if it still exists." Come to terms with it- it will motivate you to make the best of what we have here in "this life".
