Would not be surprised at all to learn that it does irreparable damage to your skin so that you are indebted to using it for the rest of your life.

Wait, you didn't know the chemicals and shit in makeup make your face all fucking nasty and break out and wrinkly and fucking gross?

Yes. Thats exactly right.

My experience with makeup is nil.

I tried eyeliner once when I was hanging out with emo chicks back in middle school. Never again.

Turns out your suspicions are spot on. Also, remember how the Egyptians used lead based eyeliner and cinnabar powder?

Then the Roman population was made violent and stupid because of lead sweetened wine and lead water pipes, etc.

Remember how violent inner cities were when lead was used in gasoline? Believe me, as violent as cities are now they are still better than when we had massive lead poisoning. Lead fucks up human brains and nervous systems.

And Victorian green wall paper? Dyed green with arsenic based dye. You can look up this Victorian fad and the deaths it caused.

We're so much smarter now, right? Wrong! https://makeupview.co/list-of-most-toxic-makeup-brands/

The roman thing has been debunked. The lead water lines "quickly" got a calcium lining protecting the water. How long that took, I don't know so there was certainly some exposure.

You must have hard water to get that lining so no, it's not universal. Also lead sweetener in wine.

Then, also, lead pipes were used to transport rain water. I kind of find it hard to believe that rain water can be anything but slightly acidic since it does tend to dissolve calcium carbonate in lime stone geology.

Also boiling down grape juice in lead alloy pots can't be a good thing.

Then, take into account that in Roman era the bones were loaded with lead. It got there somehow.

I wear bare minerals. It's literally mineral powder. But very sheer.

That is good stuff. I don't think the rest of makeup "irreparably damages one's skin." Not directly. Most of it will clog up pores and cause acne and other stuff.

Mineral powder on the skin is today mostly harmless. The huge thing about Talcum powder causing lung problems comes from silly women inhaling the dust on a daily basis. Powdered mineral inhalation should always be avoided no matter the type of mineral. I am aware some women use powdered sparkly mica as a skin decoration. I think it's a non issue.
