Thats the thing though. It never actually meant those things. You bought into the idea that Mohawks and hair dye meant those things because you were young and stupid. The same is happening with these idiots. They actually think they are working against some establishment and bringing about change and taking on the man when in reality they are THE target consumer audience because they will buy anything forced down their throat as "edgy". Just like the punks did. It's all marketing. Counter culture IS culture and its sold to you by the same people who make the hair dye for your mom's book club.
Ding ding! The “non-conformist” groups are easily malleable retards in each and every generation. If you dress the same as all of your mates in your “non-conformist” group (be they punks, goths, mods, teddy boys, emos, whatever) then you are still conforming with your own group. And that group’s edgy fashion isn’t something they collectively envisioned themselves, it was marketed to them and you’ve succumbed to that marketing like the good goy you’re supposed to be.
Hahaha. Reminds me of this guy I hung out with back in the early 90s. He said, "I am the only one of us in our group without tattoos or piercings. Ya know what that makes me? A rebel".
