You know, I was actually just thinking yesterday and how anything they touch becomes untouchable because nobody wants to be mistakenly associated with them. I was thinking specifically about things like mohawks. When I was a young edgy lad having a mohawk meant you were an independent rebel. That you were down to throw a punch. "Fuck you all come fight me."now it means "yes, I'm willing to take dick." I loved a chick with crazy colored hair, now it means you'd just as soon singe off your own ears than hear her talk about why I'm evil for being a guy, and white to boot. And it's going to result in the surrender of society because what it means to be an American is just embarrassing now. We're going to be forced to start something new just to save face.
Mohawls became associated with punk which implies a propensity to violence. I recall a time before when a mohawk was a generic rebellion /desire to be different symbol because it was rare.
And even then, people just wanted to be Travis Bickle.
Punk had nothing to do with violence. You watched too many pedowood movies and tv shows.
Crass had a song that went something along the lines of...we should burn down their big houses, but don't do it, we don't believe in violence, we're non violent! I just spent way too long trying to find the lyrics.
Hopefully antifa comes to realize that they aren't edgy punks, they've become the monster.
Thats the thing though. It never actually meant those things. You bought into the idea that Mohawks and hair dye meant those things because you were young and stupid. The same is happening with these idiots. They actually think they are working against some establishment and bringing about change and taking on the man when in reality they are THE target consumer audience because they will buy anything forced down their throat as "edgy". Just like the punks did. It's all marketing. Counter culture IS culture and its sold to you by the same people who make the hair dye for your mom's book club.
Ding ding! The “non-conformist” groups are easily malleable retards in each and every generation. If you dress the same as all of your mates in your “non-conformist” group (be they punks, goths, mods, teddy boys, emos, whatever) then you are still conforming with your own group. And that group’s edgy fashion isn’t something they collectively envisioned themselves, it was marketed to them and you’ve succumbed to that marketing like the good goy you’re supposed to be.
Hahaha. Reminds me of this guy I hung out with back in the early 90s. He said, "I am the only one of us in our group without tattoos or piercings. Ya know what that makes me? A rebel".
I have never forgotten that.
The whole punk aesthetic is a joke now. Punk was big for me when I was a kid and it's gone completely to the other side. It used to mean you stood out and rejected society (and faced violence because of it). Now it means you accept the mainstream and condemn everyone that doesn't.
I used to go to a lot of punk shows and one kid I knew would wake up early on Saturday and spend hours until the afternoon crafting his mohawk just right for that nights show. He would spend hours on his hair. How punk rock, man...
