One of the things that has been on the agenda for these several decades now, through laws, the educational system, and the media, is to remove all sense of personal responsibility and critical thought from the masses. If you are told not to do something you must not do it, for the sole reason that it is forbidden. You will receive punishment for not following the rules, and these are social consequences not natural ones.
