In Europe they heat the turbines to prevent freezing with power drawn from fossil fuel powered generators.

It's all so tiresome.

Electric heating is tiresome?

Not the guy you asked, but I'd agree it's tiresome to hear the endless arguments for green energy when it doesn't pass the common sense test.

If there is an intelligent way to end reliance on fossil fuels, I'm all for it. If it's part of a green agenda and shoved through without addressing legitimate questions (Impact on birds or other wildlife, how to keep it operational during snow / ice storms, other impacts on local environment that haven't been investigated or answered, etc.) then I'd just as soon keep our current energy reliance with it's known faults rather than trade it for one with unknowns.

Agree totally however if there is no pushback they will continue down this psth.

Also remember that they're deicing the wind turbines so they can stop "global warming".

Im not against wind or solar. I just hate the retards who expect it as a cure all. Why not supplement oil and gas with renewables? At a very least you can mitigate consumption from a resource standpoint.

Because that would be too logical. When taking over an industry to bend it to your will you don't just take over parts of it and live in an expanding ecosystem you take over the whole fucking thing.

If people freeze well...meh. My synagogue has a diesel generator out back.

Funny that no one thought to use some of the electricity being generated to keep the blades heated to 33° and make all of that unnecessary.

[–] 1 pt

They thought of that in Germany but since there isn't any wind atm they are having to pull electricity from the remaining grid (coal) to keep the internals from freezing.

LMFAO.

let just get the energy from the ICE.

immediately gets arkancided

Green needs a little black to run.

Someone do the math? How much fuel does that helicopter burn, vs how much electricity that windmill can make?

[–] 0 pt

0 electricity - 13 gallons / hour = -13 gallons for every helicopter for every flight hour.

Build more nuclear power I say. Everyone wins.

Yep. Cheapest power + middle class job for skilled labor. And.....no diversity hires, merit only.

Can't they design these things with some type of internal heating system? They have heated roads in CO. Just use some water pipe that only gets hot water pumped through it when needed or something.
