This doesn’t happen by itself. It does happen. But this is not the wife of a man with his house in order. Marriage takes work.

You can be open. Are you so sensitive because someone had an opposing viewpoint to you? What is wrong with defending men who have had failed marriages? There are two people involved in a marriage and they both are responsible for their behavior.

Are you married? The married couple make vows to care for and be responsible for each other.

You do care for and do what you can for the other. I'll go out on a limb and say that you don't have children, and if you're married you made a good, maybe lucky, choice. You absolutely can't change a person's behavior. If only you could. Even with good parents instilling good behavior in children, they go their own way.
