That was around when women were allowed to vote and senators became voted on instead of appointed by state legislatures.
I never understood in high school civics why we would need a senate and a house of reps when both are voted on by the people. The senate is supposed to be full of state appointed people. I don't think that would matter at this point, but it made a difference in earlier times.
