I think it was Sargon of Akkad that did a segment on the radical lefts claims of whiteness. His best estimation is that if you replace white culture with western culture in their literature, everything comes into focus. When you go to another country, and you intend to stay, you assimilate. Western culture is tolerant of different races, but intolerant of those who don't assimilate into western culture. This intolerance of those who do not assimilate is what is classified as racism by the radical left. By twisting the words around and substituting "white" for "western", they attempt to label westerners' intolerance of incompatible cultures as racist.
