In 2010 when this episode came out I wasn't even watching The Simpsons any more because the quality of the writing had deteriorated so much. But this opening setup sequence is, mostly, as good as it gets.

It's impossible for animals to pass their sickness on to humans without intervention and manipulation of the virus in a lab.. like rabies, Lyme for example.

A bite or an injection should do the trick.

Exactly. Remember when covid first came out everyone thought their pets were either going to die from Covid or give it to their owners? How quickly that narrative was destroyed lol

I watch this jap on YouTube. He makes cooking videos...I like to cook... Anyway his cat caught a air born virus that almost killed it. It's a peaceful channel If you want a break from us...

In sort of related news, my cat died of FIPV which is also a coronavirus I learned. Simpsons did it first, though?

the coronavirus in cats affects them similar to HIV...e.g. it weakens them and they die of other causes, but the root cause is basically FiV

Thanks... my heart is broken nevertheless.

well...it is fucked watching your cat slowly getting skinnier and skinnier and eventually kicking the bucket...I'm of the view all the cats in my house have it (highly contagious)..and I should have typed FiP above...point being I've seen it, will see it again...and no, I didn't put those cats down as for all intensive purposes they passed pretty peacefully and lived decently until the end
