It worked fine because there was nobody here. Or perhaps there was nobody here because it "worked fine". This has nothing to do with Voat and everything to do with new users showing up. All new users are going to be confused and frustrated with this. Because that button has the same meaning **everywhere else**. Just like everyone expects disk icons to mean "save" and X buttons to mean "close" or "delete". And switching the meanings around would naturally cause confusion and frustration. Subverting the function of the DOWNVOTE button to mean anything other than "VOTE this DOWN" is stupid. Punishing people for using it the way it is used literally everywhere else is retarded. If you don't want a downvote feature, then the sensible thing to do is to get rid of it. Not turn it into a trap that annoys people.
