I had cops at my house once because they were looking for someone I knew and my dog was barking at them from the hallway (about twenty feet from the front door) and the cop said "if you don't shut that dog up, I'm gonna shoot it." This dog is older than dirt, visibly grey all over his face and doesn't even have most his teeth.

Exactly. We're getting closer and closer to resembling the police in Turner Diaries. Personally, though, I'd prefer getting rid of police and having a volunteer community force vetted by the public.
