From my research, I've found wind turbines to be more efficient than solar. More up-time on the power gen and greater power/time period.
That was on the hypothetical to-do list also as we do get lots of breeze sometimes. Although I am pretty sure that's not legal here.

Anything legitimately useful for detaching yourself from the teat of the state must be illegal.
I'm pretty confident that I could get around it simply by making it look silly. If it's decorative, it's legal[ish]! I was figuring on building an old timey windmill looking windmill... with a generator in it! I had lots of big plans... most of them have yet to materialize, but I blame the cars and the existing yardwork and the house and the boat and the missus wanting to go shopping and all that!
