ive always said that in order to vote you need to have commented why
Nah, that's not Reddit. On Reddit they just ban you.
Your comment will more than likely have more upvotes than downvotes at the time you are banned, at least mine did.
it's gone both ways for me, one time I said "libtard" on r/gaming and got mass downvoted before being banned for "violent content" I guess it depends on post popularity
Yeah, jargon is a big part of it. It's a shortcut that everyone uses, and occurs on both sides.
If you call someone a "libtard" for saying a game is good because it has gays in it or some stupid shit, you'll get down-voted. If you state that you don't like political messages in video games that you play, or that it seems to just be pandering or using that as a substitute for good gameplay, then people will agree with you, even if it's essentially the same thing.
On the opposite side of the spectrum. If you say "diversity is our strength" or some other leftist bullshit unironically on voat or even here, you'll probably be downvoted. But if you say that having a team of people with different specialties is advantageous because everyone can work to their strengths, and it encourages "out-of-the-box" thinking, then people won't recognise it as "diversity is our stength", and you won't get downvoted.
More than likely that the mods/bots have set up word filters that picks up "leftist", "libtard", etc. And flags them for mass downvotes and automatic bans.
Either way, hide your power level when talking to normies ;)
