A French court rules that the 67-year-old Senegalese migrant Ousmane Diallo can’t be held criminally responsible for killing 18-year-old Théo.
Ousmane became furious in a mobile phone shop after having been told he would have to pay €93 for calls made to Senegal.
He stabbed Théo in the chest on one of his first days on the job.
The court ruled that Ousmane is mentally ill and will be sent to a psychiatric hospital instead until he recovers.

July 10, 2021. Claye-Souilly. Théo is 18 years old, but he’s already working hard. He is an apprentice salesman in a Bouygues Telecom shop.
His professionalism has been noticed by his employer, who is about to offer him a permanent contract.
That day, Ousmane Diallo storms into the shop in a rage. He speaks French with difficulty and demands a refund for an out-of-bundle charge of 93.62 euros.
A salesman, Dany, tries to help him. But it’s taking too long for this 65-year-old Senegalese man, who arrived in France in 1980 and has already been convicted of rebellion and robbery with violence.
He shouts: “Now, now!”, pulls out a 13-centimetre (five inch) knife, approaches Dany and stabs him in the chest. He then lunges at Théo and plunges the blade straight into his heart.
The young man takes a few steps, tries to leave the shop, then collapses, killed instantly. His colleague Dany is rushed to hospital in critical condition, but survives.
Ousmane Diallo is arrested a few moments later by an off-duty police officer.
The trial of Théo’s killer opened yesterday, Tuesday 17 February.
