Don't do what this guy does, he is wearing earbuds. NEVER WEAR EARBUDS! Always have a forestry helmet with earmuffs and use them. Reason being what he talked about briefly.... Widowmakers. When you get struck with one in the head it will be deflected off the top of your helmet and downward at an angle. If you are not wearing muffs that could mean full force coming down on your shoulder or worse your ear. The helmet/muff combo is specifically designed to deflect at a 45 degree angle when struck. Also I have seen guys take a sharpened stick to the ear puncturing their eardrum.... let that sink in. Have your face mask installed as well, it will save an eye, eyepro is not enough. A stick can glance off of your saw/arm/another stick and jab you in the eye.
