I've worked for big evil financial institutions and they gutted their domestic IT departments and ramped up the Chinese locations. I quit right after and got out of that industry. They ran dark pools and HFT. Yet they kept their domestic trading desks going and portfolio managers. Frankly, I believe it's window dressing.

Interesting. It would seem to be more profitable otherwise, but I suppose that comes from only seeing the outside of the picture.
