It will break out and the ratio will catch back up.
What was the historical ratio of the price of Au:Ag throughout history?
How do extraction rates compare?
How much Ag was typically given to an average worker for a median amount of work?
Silver may not exactly surpass Gold in the long run, but the ratio will shorten immensely.
TBH I haven't looked at those ratios because I've never held gold, just silver. You've given me something to occupy some time tomorrow, however.
The only reason to hedge with silver and not gold is because you expect to need easier forms of payments and don't want to carry that much gold with you in order to transact. Diversity is still the aim, though.
For me, Ag is a long term hold and it's to hedge against inflation but also because I understand the prices are being significantly suppressed.
I expect a 5000% correction or so. It could go just short of twice that, though, as per the historical ratios.
When I say hold, I mean in the physical sense. I simply don't have any gold to hold.
