Q. You hold the door open for a lady and she stops in her tracks and screams at you, ‘Don’t hold the door for me! I’ll get it myself!’ What are your feelings or immediate reaction?

It happened once at work.
We have a dangerous anti fire door, which came back slowly then very rapidly (spring system). With consequence that it can break one’s nose.
So, I and my colleagues made effort to keep the door open the time that the next person come closer.
A new colleague take it badly, yelling that she didn’t need to be the door to be held.
I was surprised, and told back that it was dangerous...as she kept being rude, I left.
And what happened? The door slapped her face. Badly.
HR later, we both explain our case. The door was suppressed. They paid her medical bill.
She sued the company she worked with…and lost. On the basis that she was offered the opportunity to avoid the accident, and didn’t care.
Karma at its best.
