Agreed. We are never truly "safe." Although there is wisdom in the mitigation of risk, it is a matter of self-education and personal responsibility. We should not be listening to these supposed authority figures telling us what to do to be "safe."

I just did that recently by leaving a large metropolitan area. I am now in the woods with a well, septic system, backup generator, smaller but paid for house, garden, fewer neighbors. Crisis actors aren't likely to come here to cause a media event, the effect would be too small.

I envy you. Congrats. In 5 months I’ll be able to sell my house and get back to the country. City life has been a pretty terrible experience.
